On Friday 28 February, a group of Ivanhoe Girls’ students travelled to Melbourne Grammar School to participate in the UN Walk for Women to celebrate International Women’s Day. The walk was a celebration of the progress that has been made for women’s rights but also recognised the disparity that still exists in the world today.
Before we began, we got to hear about the amazing humanitarian work of UN Women and Save the Children. We then walked around the 2.5km Tan Track in the Royal Botanic Gardens. We were joined by a thousand other students from a range of schools across Melbourne. We were very privileged to hear about an issue close to all of our hearts and show our support for our fellow women worldwide.
