Late last term, students received their National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) results for 2022. We certainly appreciate each student’s hard work and effort in delivering their best on the day under test conditions. Our School’s results were very strong and consistent with our students’ ongoing levels of achievement.
NAPLAN tests provide parents and schools with an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests. They are just one aspect of a school’s assessment process in concert with our ongoing formative and summative feedback and assessment cycle. As with any assessment, we encourage our students to be focused on their feedback and areas for learning growth rather than any score or grade they may receive.
Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School is an open-entry school that provides a broad education to our students. We endeavour to have every student focus on their personal best. While NAPLAN is an important measure, it is only one of many and should be considered in the context of each student’s overall experience at school.
The following plots reflect Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar’s summary report for NAPLAN 2022 at Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 compared to the performance of students in the same year levels across the state. The areas tested were: Reading, Writing, Language Conventions – Spelling, Language Conventions – Grammar and Punctuation, and Numeracy. Consistent with past NAPLAN tests, Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School achieved excellent results across every year level, in every category, compared to the state mean
