As part of our Sports Curriculum in Semester One, Year 8 students attend their Physical Education Classes at the La Trobe University Sports Centre on a regular basis. In these outstanding state-of-the-art facilities, students are developing new skills, participating in gameplay and practising teamwork in sports including Basketball, Soccer and Volleyball.
PE is an important subject at Ivanhoe Girls’ and it’s great to have the opportunity to utilise the La Trobe University Sport Centre as part of our School’s PE program. In 2022, the Year 8’s travel fortnightly to La Trobe University at Bundoora to participate in various sports such as soccer, basketball, and volleyball.
In Terms 1 and 2 of this year, my PE class has been focusing on developing our skills in Soccer and Basketball. Having this opportunity has helped me to understand specific rules and skills needed for these sports. It has also exposed me to sport I have not played before and made me realise the sports I like most.
Overall, I have really enjoyed using the modern, state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor sporting facilities that La Trobe University has to offer. It has been a nice change in scenery, allowing us to practise our skills in a new and different environment.
