Mr Shilliday was an inspirational leader with a delightful sense of humour and a much loved and respected member of the School community. John was renowned for knowing every student’s name under his care and was a wonderful man. John’s passing is a great loss to our school community. John was an active member of the Ivanhoe Girls’community up until 2018 when he retired from the Cooerwull Committee.

John commenced as the School Principal in 1977 until his retirement in 1990. The School’s Physical Education Centre is named in his honour. In 2018, John was awarded a 35 Year Cooerwull Service Award for his services to the School as Principal and a member of the Cooerwull Committee. John was often seen at school events, the annual Cooerwull Service Awards and Cooerwull Capers.
