All members of the Ivanhoe Girls’ community, including employees, contractors, agency staff, volunteers and visitors are required to meet our child safety responsibilities. Ivanhoe Girls' has a zero-tolerance policy for child abuse and other harm and is committed to acting in the students' best interests to keep them safe from harm.
The School regards its child safety responsibilities with the utmost importance and is committed to providing the necessary resources to ensure compliance with Ministerial Order 1359 and all relevant child safety and wellbeing laws and regulations. Ivanhoe Girls’ implements child safety standards and takes into account the needs of all children, including but not limited to, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children; children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; children with disabilities; international students; those unable to live at home and children and young people who identify as LGBTQIA+, when creating a child safe environment.
Each member of the Ivanhoe Girls’ community has a responsibility to understand their expectations and obligations with respect to child safety. As a minimum, all roles within the School are required to abide by the School’s Code of Conduct, Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy, Prevention of Child Abuse Policy and Responding to Child Abuse Policy. They must maintain either a valid Working With Children Check for employment purposes or a current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. They are obliged to create and maintain a child-safe culture that is understood, endorsed and put into action at all times, and immediately report any concerns regarding the safety of children and remain aware and responsive to the needs of vulnerable children.
